Regional Refuse Disposal District seeks Residents' opinions in Household Hazardous Waste Day survey

-A A +A

As you may be aware, Regional Refuse Disposal District 1 holds a Household Hazardous Waste Day every other October when residents may dispose of household waste that is toxic, flammable, reactive or corrosive. Common HHW includes oil-based paints, thinners, pool chemicals, pesticides, mercury fever thermometers, and gasoline.  Hosting this event is very costly to the District.  As a fiscally responsible organization, the District is considering joining the annual collection sponsored by the Northwest Hills Council of Governments instead of hosting their own collection day.  They are seeking input from the residents of their member towns (Barkhamsted, New Hartford, Winchester) on this topic.
