- Keep your business clean, uncluttered and well-stocked.

Put the robber on stage! Good visibility is important.
- Front doors and windows should be kept clear of signs and posters.
- Parking areas should be well lighted.
- The checkout should be clearly visible.
- Place height markers at main entrance door, to judge the height of the robber.
- Use special mirrors for surveillance.

Look Out for Danger!
- Stay alert.
- Practice observation with your employees. Ask them to describe a customer who was just in your business establishment.
- Watch for persons entering and leaving repeatedly without making purchases.

Be in Charge!
- Be sociable. Greet every person who comes into the store.
- Look each customer directly in the eye.
- Give the impression you're not alone.
- Leave a radio or TV playing in a back room.

Don't Flash the Cash
- Adopt a cash-on-hand policy.
- No large bills after a certain time.
- Don't count large amounts of cash in public view.
- Place excess in a "drop safe."
- Keep large bills out of the cash register and in the safe.
- Use signs asking customers to pay with smallest bills possible.

Deposit at the Bank
- Deposit money as often as possible.
- Vary your banking routine.
- Carry your deposit in a variety of ways: lunch sack, brief case. Don't use a bank bag.
- Bank at different times.
- Vary your route to the bank.
- Take a quick look outside prior to leaving.
