The New Hartford Senior Center is located on the 3rd floor of the New Hartford Town Hall, 530 Main Street in New Hartford, CT. 

New Hartford is fortunate to have a part-time Senior Director, Jean Barnicoat, who is in charge of organizing events and functions.  There are several on-going exercise classes that meet regularly and there is always room for more participants.

Jean is also the "Municipal Agent for the Elderly" - if you have any questions regarding services available for the Elderly or know of someone who may need services (but they won't call for help), please call Jean and she may be able to offer some guidance.

MARCH CLOSINGS:  Town Hall and the Senior Center will be closed on Friday, March 30. 

REMEMBER - IN CASE OF INCLEMENT WEATHER CHECK LOCAL TV STATIONS - IF REGION 7 SCHOOLS ARE CLOSED THERE ARE NO SENIOR ACTIVITIES.  If there is a 2 hour delay, activities will go forward, but use your good judgment if the roads appear treacherous.

Fitness at 9:00 -- $3.00; Coffee at 10:00

TUESDAYS:
Pilates at 9:00 - $6.00; Fitness at 10:45 $3.00

WEDNESDAYS:
Fitness at 9:00 - $3.00; Mat Stretch at 10:00 - $2.00 for seniors; $5.00  for non-seniors; COMMUNITY CAFE at 12:00 (except 4/4)

THURSDAYS:
Line Dancing at 9:30 (except 3/22); Fitness at 10:45 - $3.00 
COMMUNITY CAFE at 12:00

FRIDAYS:
Pilates at 9:00 - $6.00; Zumba Gold at 10:30 - $3.00

Every Wednesday and Thursday join us for the Community Café. $4.00 suggested donation. Must call 860-379-3980 by 11:30 the day before you wish to come.

Please sign up so we know how many to expect -- payment required when you sign up.  Minimum of 10 reservations required for Special Events.  Just a quick phone call 860-379-3980 for free events.

Wednesday, April 4 9:00 am - Thrift Shopping at the Red, White and Blue Thrift Shop in Waterbury.  Bus leaves from back of Town Hall at 9 am.  This is a free trip with a small tip for the driver and lunch.  The bus is full and if you'd like to go, you must get on the wait list and hope for a cancellation.

Monday, April 9 :00 am - Needlework crafty ladies are making a surprise pinwheel quilt.  If you like to sew and have a portable sewing maching you can join in the fun.  Contact Jean at 860-379-3980 or Ruth Roden at 860-379-0671 to find out what supplies you need to participate.

Wednesday, April 11 12:30 pm - Farmington Valley Health District speaker, Justine Ginsberg presents "How to talk to Your Doctor".  Learn how to open the lines of communication and utilize your health care team of family, Doctors, nurses and pharmicists to get the best results for your health.  Please sign up.

Thursday, April 12 1:00 pm - Cardmaking with Nancy Pretak.  Nancy volunteers her time and donates all the materials needed to fabricate lovely greeting cards to send to loved ones.

Thursday, April 19 - Bingo at 1:00 pm following Community Cafe.  Sign up for this fun and free event. You must sign up as the event will be cancelled if at least 10 people have not signed up to participate.

Monday, April 23 - Gilson Movie and Lunch - Join us for lunch at the Historic Gilson in Winsted.  For $20 per person enjoy potato leek soup, green salad, chicken marsala with rice pilaf and a surprise dessert with a showing of "Murder on the Orient Express".

New Policies - Prepayment is required when signing up for a senior center event.

Wednesday, May 2 Noon - Annual Spring Luncheon at Marino's Restaurant.  Sheri Ziccardi will be serenading with light-hearted and fun music.  The cost will be just $20 per person.  Please click here for the menu.

Thursday, May 10 6:00 pm departure - Traveler's Chorale 93rd Annual Spring Concert 7:30 pm at Mortensen Hall at the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts.  Travel aboard a Northwest Transit bus to the Bushnell Theater.  In lieu of concert admission charges, please bring a non perishable food item to be distributed to local food banks. This is a food fund drive for the less fortunate. Please don't forget! You must sign up for this event.

Tuesday, August 7 - Essex Steam Train & Riverboat Lunch Train Excursion.  Journey through the heart of the scenic Connecticut River Valley aboard the only steam train and riverboat ride in the U.S.!  For just $49.95 per person (group rate based on 15 or more) you'll have a 3-course meal in 1920s-era Pullman luxury, followed by a 1 1/4 hour cruise aboard the Mississippi-style riverboat, Becky Thatcher.  The day ends with a steam train ride back to Essex.  Sign up quickly as this trip will fill up fast.

The Community Café is now open at the New Hartford Senior Center! Every Wednesday and Thursday come for a yummy hot lunch for just a $4.00 suggested donation for folks 60+ and $5.50 for you youngsters under 60! You can make a reservation anytime for future lunches but you MUST make your reservation at least before 11:30 am the day before you would like to attend! Call me!
