The Recreation Department provides recreational opportunties for the town and assists groups with organized recreational activities. Recreation programs are offered throughout the year. Each household receives a recreation flyer though the mail which describes the programs and activities that are offered. Brodie Beach This department also operates Brodie Beach during the summer months. There you can jump into the water to cool off, get some excercise with a refreshing swim, sit on the beach and just relax, or picnic in the park. Beach Access passes are required. Beach Pass fees are established annually. Resident and non-resident passes are available for purchase beginning in early May. Call the Recreation Office (860) 379-3877 for additional details.
Lightning Safety Lightning kills more Americans each year than tornadoes. At least 10 percent of lightning occurs when there are no clouds overhead, meaning that children and adults who spend time outdoors need to learn not to wait until the last minute to head for shelter. One rule of thumb is that if thunder can be heard, there is a risk of being struck by lightning
